Bucktown shoe shop City Soles has found a sockless solution with a footwear line called Kandals that infuses its canvas with a subtle strawberry scent. So instead of smelling like sweaty feet, your shoes have the intoxicating aroma of a Strawberry Shortcake doll.

Along with being scented, the Spanish-made shoes are vegan, made with organic cotton and natural rubber. Putting its own sustainable spin on the buy-one, give-one model, Kandals plants a tree in deforested area of the world for every pair purchased.

Kandals are available at City Soles (2001 W. North Ave., 773-489-2001, citysoles.com) for $32-$34. The store carries women's European sizes 35-41. Owner Scott Starbuck advises that they tend to run large, so consider ordering a half size down.
