September 19, 2009– Carson Pirie Scott’s Yorktown store welcomed 200 guests to revel in fall fashion. Guests enjoyed breakfast treats and a coffee bar. The runway presentation was hosted by Chicago magazine’s Stacy Wallace-Albert. When it comes to The Hills—the MTV reality show launching its sixth season Tuesday, September 29th at 9 p.m.—some things change (L. Wood-Mode Color Event

September 16, 2009– Chicago Home + Garden partnered with the Benjamin Moore showroom to host the Wood-Mode Color Presentation in the Merchandise Mart. Editor of Chicago Home + Garden, Jan Parr, introduced John Troxell Wood-Mode Fine Custom Cabinetry’s design director, who discussed color as it interacts with design. The event showcased the evolution of cabinetry finishes and style, along with insight on color trends for 2010.

Silk Trading Co. Blowout

A colleague who was over at the 900 N. Shops last week spotted a terrific sale at Silk Trading Co.. Lampshades are 90 percent off (lots of pastels and florals but also some bold patterns and neutrals; cool shapes, some pleated, all different sizes). Everything in the store is on sale, including small tables/furniture, lamps, pillows, and tons of silk drapes and blinds. The catch? You’ve got to get over there fast, because the sale ends Wednesday. A spokeswoman at the store says that tons of new merch will be arriving end of the week. Stay tuned for details.
