Today we saw a little burst of interest in a short, seemingly obscure 2005 Chicago story: "Water Power," a profile of Matt Grevers, a then-20-year-old, six-foot-seven Lake Forest native, Northwestern student, and elite young swimmer. I don't follow swimming at all, so I'd never heard of him, even though the years have been kind to him, with two 2008 golds in relays and a silver in the 100m backstroke.
Why is Matt Grevers trending? He proposed to his girlfriend, Annie Chandler—also a swimmer—at a meet this weekend on the medal stand.
As for my own Valentine's Day plans, my wife is doing domestic-violence training on the night most folks are celebrating romance, so I'm thinking it'll be heart-shaped pizza for me.
