Desperate to incorporate a Louis chair into your modern decor, but not sure where to start? We’ve got your gal. In her relatively short career of ten years, interior decorator Jordana Joseph-whose style can be loosely described as what happens when funky-eclectic grows up-has done a little bit of everything.
She started out in the auction business as Leslie Hindman’s receptionist; worked at Sotheby’s under 20th-century furniture specialist Marcus Tremonto; then worked with industry doyenne Alessandra Branca, who taught her the ins and outs of running an upscale interiors firm. Joseph went solo for a while, doing small jobs that had her scouring the city for just the right $35 magazine rack, and gradually worked her way up to higher-end gigs.
And just this past fall, she opened her own studio, Jorje, a showcase for her signature vintage-modern-meets-glam style. She has a seemingly innate understanding of how to mix styles, patterns, and colors, but she also understands when to stop. "Everybody is excited about the eclectic look now, and that’s great, but there needs to be a flow, a sense of design in the chaos," she says. That’s where Joseph comes in.
