LOCAL APPAREL AND ACCESSORIES: Close to 40 Chicago-based clothing and accessories designers—as well as a handful of area boutiques—set up shop on Daley Plaza for a hometown sidewalk sale July 17 and 18.
JEWELRY: Edith Hart (1917 N. Damen Ave.) hosts a trunk show for the edgy yet elegant local jewelry line Bella Coletta on July 21, with pieces from $40 to $300.
WOMEN’S, MEN’S, AND KIDS’ APPAREL; HOME GOODS: Dozens of shops in Wicker Park, Bucktown, and Ukrainian Village unite for a cross-neighborhood sidewalk sale July 21 and 22. The children’s store The Red Balloon (1940 N. Damen Ave.), the accessories and home shop Stitch (1723 N. Damen Ave.), and the men’s and women’s boutique Penelope’s (1913 W. Division St.) are among the retailers offering discounts and promotions.
OPENING: CityTarget (1 S. State St.), designed to entice urban shoppers with its Loop location and perks such as sandwiches from Pret A Manger, plans a July 25 debut.
REOPENING: Coach (625 N. Michigan Ave.) is set to unveil its freshly renovated Mag Mile store on July 27. The space houses a revamped women’s shoe boutique, a new men’s shop, and more real estate for bags, including the leather duffel pictured above ($348).
BEAUTY/GROOMING: Blowtique (1 E. Huron St.), the new blow-dry bar and styling-only hair salon in the Gold Coast, offers a summer special: In July, ask for a custom braid or tousled waves ($35 each) and get trendy semipermanent pastel streaks free of charge.
