Up next in our series of weekend plans from notable, in-the-know locals—a.k.a. people we like: Staci Boris, the chief curator at the Elmhurst Art Museum, where the artist Ann Toebbe will give a lecture on her work Friday 2/22 at 6:30 p.m.

“Friday nights the gallery is open until 8 p.m. for our weekly Artist Talks. I am really looking forward to this week’s—Ann Toebbe. I’ll probably grab a drink with Ann afterward at this great place Flight 112 Wine House. They have great organic wines, an excellent selection of craft beers, and just a solid atmosphere in general.

“Saturday I will spend time between different galleries. I really want to go to the Ebersmoore gallery to see Ann Toebbe’s newest work, The Inheritance, especially after hearing her talk on Friday. I have also been dying to see the MCA exhibition Destroy the Picture: Painting the Void, so I will head there after Ebersmoore. Finally, I will stop in Wicker Park to see Diane Simpson’s exhibit at Corbett vs. Dempsey. After a day full of galleries, my husband and I will head to our favorite place for dinner—Revolution Brewing in Logan Square. It has a great old pub feel and tasty vegetarian options—fresh and innovative—which is something I am always looking for.

“Sunday I will spend time with my family in North Park, stay around the neighborhood. We will head to Tre Kronor for an iconic breakfast of Swedish pancakes, quiche, and fresh squeezed orange juice and then go to the North Park Village Nature Center. I try to get my kids out every day and the center has an awesome outdoor trail. You almost forget you are in the middle of the city. Later, we’ll go over to the Sulzer Regional Library in Lincoln Square, which is one of the few libraries open in the city on Sundays. Then we will end up at one of our other favorite places—Opart Thai House. I myself am partial to the Musaman Curry with Tofu, but everything is great.
