all photos: jason martini

A man lays up some paint at the storefront of the Heads & Threads Boutique—a wig shop next to a shoe store aptly named Jumpers—on N. Milwaukee near Ashland.

Jason Martini has been shooting the streets of Chicago for years, mostly working around the Loop and in Wicker Park/Bucktown. But some time around October 2010, Martini captured a weird mirror effect going on in a photo.

Basically, his subject ended up looking like another person elsewhere in the frame. He liked the effect—what photographer wouldn't? So he started seeking it out.

Understandably, this kind of thing doesn't happen every day. In fact, Martini has been looking for these kinds of shots for years now. And, as he says, "It will never be finished.

Here are a few highlights from the series he calls “It's A Dual.”
