Chicago’s brewery scene is growing like, well, yeast. (Lake View’s DryHop Brewers becomes the latest addition this month.)
If you still can’t distinguish between a farmhouse ale and a Continental Pils, get thee to the Beer Temple, a four-month-old Avondale craft brew shop. There, Certified Cicerone (translation: legit beer geek) Chris Quinn and his suds-savvy wife, Margaret, will graciously school you in all things hopped. You'll go home with both an education and a six-pack.
Perhaps you’re simply hoping to test-drive a new IPA: You’ll find roughly 75 varieties. (Take Chris’s recommendation for the citrusy Deviant Dale’s from Oskar Blues.) If you’re already among the barley literati, this is your promised land: Bottles of various shapes and sizes, from producers local (5 Rabbit Cervecería) and far-flung (Sri Lanka’s Lion Brewery), glisten like trophies.
Just want a case of Miller Lite? Sorry.
