WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND

Up next in our series of weekend plans from notable, in-the-know locals—a.k.a. people we like: Allison Hendrix, artistic associate for Kokandy Productions. The Last Five Years opens Thursday, August 1 at 8 p.m.
“Friday, I’ll go to yoga at Yogaview. It really helps me get out of my head before a performance. This show will be the first time in a while I’ll be performing on stage—I’ve been primarily working as a music director and pianist.
“[After the show] there’s an opening night party at Cooper’s—a pretty regular spot for people that perform theater. There’s a salad they have that’s really simple—arugula, blue cheese, and cranberry (it also has apple-balsamic vinaigrette).
“Saturday, I’ll be back at yoga. Then I’ll get brunch at Floriole—I like to go after class. They have an almond croissant that is life-changing. Then I’ll probably meet some friends at Edge Fest.
“After my show, I’m going to Haven Theatre Chicago next door. I have some friends who are musicians in Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
“Sunday is my Rogers Park day. I like to get coffee at The Common Cup. It’s a really great neighborhood place—they have a tip jar that goes to a different local Rogers Park organization every month. Then I’ll walk around the Glenwood Sunday Market—it’s pretty small compared to some of the other markets in the city but I actually like that.
“We have a matinee, so afterwards, I hope to catch the second act of The Comedy of Errors, which is part of Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s Shakespeare in The Park.” —As told to Tomi Obaro
