Discount Double-Dose
Cameron Silver and Christos Garkinos, the reality stars and founders of the L.A.-based luxury consignment store Decades (decadesinc.com) swing through Chicago this weekend for a trunk show at space519 (900 N. Michigan Ave., 5th Floor, 312-751-1519, space519.com). Along with one-of-a-kind vintage pieces, they're hauling modern fall designer clothing, shoes, and handbags from Balenciaga, Chanel, Chloé, Christian Louboutin, DVF, and Alexander Wang—with some items marked all the way up to 80 percent off. The event is open to the public on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
Also this weekend, the always-anticipated Gilt City Warehouse Sale returns to the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers (301 E. North Water St.). You'll find labels like Missoni, Vera Wang, Badgley Mischka, Carolina Herrera, and Helmut Lang marked up to 90 percent off retail. On Saturday between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., shoppers are let loose at the sale for two hours of rack-hunting. Tickets (available at gilt.com/chicagowhs) start at $20 and reduce to $10 as the day progresses. Bring along the plastic because payment is accepted via debit and credit cards only (no cash).
Openings
After breaking ground a year ago, Target (target.com) debuts its shiny new store tomorrow at West Division and North Larrabee Streets in Old Town.
The Frye Company (1007 N. Rush St., 312-642-3793), which celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, is now open in the Gold Coast. You'd never guess the new 6,000 square-foot store—with original exposed brick walls, reclaimed oak flooring and barn doors, and a 15-foot-high black tin ceiling—is the same space previously occupied by Jilly's Piano Bar.
