Contemporary women's brand Alice + Olivia (919 N. Michigan Ave.; 312-273-1254) opened its first store in Chicago on Friday on the Mag Mile. Bright pops of color on the interior and a floral motif in the window help the small but mighty 1,000 square-foot store stand out among neighbors like Louis Vuitton and Gucci.
While the brand keeps up with current trends, founder Stacey Bendet marches to her own quirky beat. It shows in the playful spin the designer gives to Alice + Olivia's sophisticated separates, like the Daisy-print cardigans, "Stacey face" pumps and printed peacoats that add a little adventure to the standard wardrobe.
The "American girl" inspired Alice + Olivia's current collection, so in the store now you'll find a mix of preppy-meets-pretty pieces: bright whites, floral prints, crop tops and lace shorts. Keeping with one of spring 2014's biggest shoe trends–the white shoe–are silhouettes ranging from delicate, strappy stilettos to chunky platforms and wedges ($280-$345).
