If you were dismayed when Roxane Gay had to cancel last month's Chicago Humanities Fest appearance for health reasons, rejoice: The New York Times best-selling author of Bad Feminist, An Untamed State, and Ayiti will speak this evening at First Union Methodist Church (77 W. Washington). The talk, organized by local nonprofit Women Employed, will address workplace discrimination, feminism, and, per Women Employed's website, "why 'having it all' doesn't make sense for millions of women scraping just to get by"—all from the jumping-off point of Gay's Bad Feminist Manifesto.
In other Chicago-centric news, Gay yesterday discussed similar issues on WBEZ's Nerdette podcast, which you can check out below:
Doors to tonight's event open at 5:15 p.m., and the program runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 or $36 with a signed copy of Bad Feminist. Read Chicago's profile of Gay here, and reserve your spot at the talk here.
