Pitchfork announces set times
The 10th annual Pitchfork Music Festival announced its day-by-day schedule last week. Usually the summer's least egregious double-bookers, the festival this year has Vic Mensa and Sleater-Kinney scheduled for the same time Saturday night, which this reporter will be up in arms about until at least October. System of a Down is playing Riot Fest
The punk rock carnival announced its second wave of bands this afternoon, which includes the System of a Down, The Prodigy, 88 Fingers Louie, and Chef’Special.
Mumford and Sons draws noise complaints from basically the entire North Side
Marcus Mumford's soulful man-wail carried from Cricket Hill throughout Chicago Friday night, reportedly drawing noise complaints from neighborhoods as far as Bowmanville, Andersonville, and Wrigelyville. The show was the first major concert at Montrose Beach since Wavefront was canceled after 2013.
Chris Rock is in town filming Empire
Lee Daniels yesterday hinted at Chris Rock's role in the second season of Empire in the form of an Instagram video of the actor in prison threads. The show reportedly began filming in town today at Cook County Juvenile Detention Center.
The Grateful Dead will stream their farewell shows on YouTube
If you, like most, couldn't get tickets to the Grateful Dead's farewell shows at Soldier Field, you can catch the last stand from the comfort of your own microbus. The band will stream its final shows on YouTube for $20 a pop via Live Alliance at youtube.com/dead50.
