Piled high, stacked up or simply solitaire—if rings are your thing, I've got a friend you need to meet. One of the original local independent storefronts on North Damen Avenue, Virtu (2034 N. Damen Ave., 773-235-3790) has been fixture in Bucktown for 13 years. You'll find cute cards, ceramics, artisanal wares, and other giftable goods inside—but it's the cases of unique jewels and gems by local and independent designers that keep shoppers coming back.
With a price point starting at $50, Virtu has amassed a collection of jewelry so large that it's outgrown its cozy space. Next week, the shop moves across the street to the bigger, grander store that Roslyn formerly occupied.
To prepare, Virtu will hold a Warehouse Sale in its current space this weekend. Everything not making the move across the street will be discounted up to 70 percent—jewelry, accessories, glass, ceramics, stationery, gift wrap, and more. The sale runs Friday, April 4 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, April 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
After that, check out Virtu's shiny new digs (2035 N. Damen Ave.) during the store's grand opening on Friday, April 11 from 4 to 8 pm. The store will hold a trunk show with one of its exclusive jewelry artists, Dahlia Kanner, whose work will be 10 percent off throughout opening weekend.
