River North is the city’s official nightclub hub, so it only makes sense to gear a new apartment building toward the scenesters who line the neighborhood’s blocks waiting for entrée night after night. Right?

That seems to be the thinking behind just-opened EnV Chicago, a luxury apartment building at 161 W. Kinzie Street (from San Antonio-based Lynd Development Partners) whose name reminds me not a little of NV Penthouse Lounge, a rooftop bar conveniently located just one block over. At the building’s “green carpet” opening party last Friday, guests sipped Svedka cocktails, heard a performance by Tyson Ritter of The All-American Rejects and took in a poolside fashion show by Sophia Vintage, if that tells you anything about EnV’s target market.

The building, which advertises itself as “one of Chicago’s first LEED-certified residential developments,” has “EnVisioned” it all, including a built-in social life for residents: Yappy Hour socials for people with pets, spa parties, an EnV Winos club for wine connoisseurs, and a “brunch experience”—complete with morning cocktails—on the 28th floor. Sound exhausting? Don’t worry, you’ll save time using the EnVironment smart phone app, which allows tenants to view security cameras, schedule training in the fitness center, pay rent, and more.

When all that’s done, you might as well head out for a little club hopping—or not, since you already live in one.
