We liked Wazwan, Zubair Mohajir’s casual BYOB Southeast Asian storefront located in front of Coach House, his tasting-menu restaurant. But when he gave the space a face-lift, brought on David Mor as beverage director, and added more snackable share plates, our affinity turned to love. Everyone seems to feel that way, given the energy that rolls into the room when diners pack in. Starting with one of Mor’s drinks (he offers both boozy and non) is nonnegotiable: His mango-laced spicy margarita is the city’s best, and his double chai daiquiri is a brilliant update to a classic drink. Order as many plates as you can share with your group: juicy momo filled with beef and a crackle of Sichuan peppercorn, a border-crossing poutine with Korean curry sauce and housemade paneer, spicy tandoori honey chicken nuggets. Everything here is a winner.
