Long gone are the sticky floors and graffitied stalls at the Empty Bottle, that Ukrainian Village live-music institution known for its cutting-edge indie rock and, until recently, its grime. During a summertime deep cleaning, owners salvaged bits of the storied surfaces (“wood that Bob Pollard spit on in 2001” and “flooring where Jack White took a knee in 2000”), cleaned them thoroughly, and had them made into coasters, now available in an auction benefiting the American Liver Foundation. The effort kicked off Thursday night with the cheekily titled Pee It Forward, a free party featuring a set by the local band Landfill Specter. Browse our photos below, then peruse the coaster sets still up for grabs; the auction continues online through October 22.
