Jayson Home will present its Analogue Shop at the Allis at Soho House Chicago (113–125 N. Green St.) this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The shop, honoring all things old school (think pens and typewriters), will feature curated small gifts with signature wrapping as well as holiday greens and flowers. Open to the public, guests can color calendars and gift tags designed by Jayson Home, use vintage typewriters with an array of vintage paper to write poems for stocking stuffers, craft ornaments, and take pictures using an old school Polaroid.
Next Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m., Restoration Hardware at the Gallery (1300 N. Dearborn Pkwy.) will host a book launch party for Michael S. Smith, author of The Curated House. Smith, the Elle Décor Designer of the Year in 2003, was the designer appointed by Barack and Michelle Obama to redecorate the residential quarters of the White House in 2008. The holiday season means a ton of craft fairs are popping up around town. This weekend, One of a Kind Show will take place at the Merchandise Mart (222 Merchandise Mart Plaza). From December 3 to 6, more than 600 artists from across North America will bring their handmade creations such as furniture, sculptures, fiber art, ceramics, home accessories, and more to spruce up your space.
