North and Clybourn may be packed with huge chain stores selling mass-produced fare, but walk a block over to Halsted and you’ll find a brand new boutique stocked with one-of-a-kind items.
Artist Neil Galati opened up Wreck Creation (1659 N. Halsted St.) to sell his unique furniture and artwork—all of which is made solely out of repurposed vintage materials. There are mirrors framed in beautiful old wood, army chests refashioned into coffee tables, and china cabinets that might outshine whatever you put inside them.
The store is open Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. If you can’t make it in during those hours, Galati will be showing his creations at the Guerilla Truck Show on June 11th and the Randolph Street Market on June 29th and 30th.
