Here are this weekend's design pickins':
The Merchandise Mart Sample Sale is your chance to hit showrooms that are usually open to the trade only and grab furniture, lighting, rugs, outdoor furnishings, and more for up to 75 percent off. Participating showrooms include: Kenneth Ludwig Home Furnishings, Noure’s Oriental Rug, and Hickory Chair. A "Designer on Call" will be on hand to answer any decorating questions you may have (bring photos, floor plans, and measurements to get the best advice). The sale runs today through Sunday.
This weekend, Renegade Craft Fair, the granddaddy of all indie markets, returns to Division Street between Damen and Paulina in Wicker Park. Find a pop-up vintage sale hosted by the Vintage Bazaar, crafting workshops, music, food, and, oh yeah, more than 300 of the best indie crafters around selling jewelry, clothing, pottery, textiles, and art. Look out for mini plant homes by Alapash Home & Terrariums, Western-themed art from Dolan Geiman, animal-inspired artwork by Sally Harless (shown above), and so much more.
Ukrainian Village shop Paperish Mess (1955 W. Chicago Ave.) is unveiling a new art exhibit and there’s a launch party on Saturday to kick it off. The show, called “Might,” features the mixed media artwork of Miguel Guzman. The free party runs from 7 to 10 p.m. and there will be some drinks and light appetizers.
