The best revenge: John Gray parlayed his scant 15 minutes of reality-TV fame into an eponymous showroom on his home turf. |
Viewers of the first season of Bravo TV’s Top Design may be surprised by über-dramatic contestant John Gray’s new Lake View furniture showroom, Johnathon. The soothing neutral palette reveals a softer side of Gray, who designed much of the shop’s merchandise. Offerings include customizable upholstery, wallcoverings, case goods, and decorative pieces ranging in price from less than $100 for an antiqued metallic vase to more than $6,000 for a chenille corner sectional. Most pieces, such as a Grecian-inspired gold-leafed side table ($595) and a classic wingback chair ($710), fall somewhere in between. Interior design services are available, which, if used, result in a 20-percent discount on store purchases. 3161 N. Halsted St., 773-327-7000; johnathonchicago.com.
