The vista at LH Rooftop, the bar atop the Loop’s tony new hotel LondonHouse Chicago, is so intoxicating that it hardly matters what you’re drinking.
Lucky for you, the cocktails are deserving of the panorama, which takes in the Chicago River curving through skyscraper canyons. Most of the drinks involve sparkling wine: The Violet, for example, is bubbly blended with Carpano Bianco vermouth and cotton candy; the Roaring Twenties is preserves made from strawberries and jasmine tea topped with Champagne. My favorite: the Windy Rabbit ($16), a vibrant combo of mellow Rhine Hall Mango Brandy, sweet-tart carrot shrub, and a kick of absinthe over prosecco. It’s almost enough to distract you from the view.
Be warned: The online reservations required for table seating are as tricky to come by as Hamilton tickets.
