With its red trim and several red exterior walls, Mod, the condominium building under construction at 1222 West Madison Street, appears to come gift-wrapped. Those crimson highlights help the building stand out among the many new developments in Chicago’s West Loop. “There’s a lot of sameness now,” says Michael Battista, the Jameson Realty Group agent representing Mod. “This building separates itself by its contemporary looks.” The building is a joint venture of Stillpoint Development, Castlebar Enterprises, and the Pickus Companies.

WEST LOOP

From $274,000
to $449,900

This first phase of Mod has 56 units, 24 of them already sold. (Construction has yet to begin on a second phase, an attached building planned for 1224 West Madison.) The remaining units start at $274,900 for a one-bedroom condo with 804 square feet of space. At the upper end, a 1,411-square-foot unit with two bedrooms and a den sells for $449,900. Among the highlights of the condos are the sleek kitchens, with quartz countertops and teak-veneer cabinetry. Parking spaces cost an additional $35,000. The building is slated for completion in early 2009.
