Each year since 1994, Chicago has celebrated the achievements of a small group of people who have brightened our city through vision and perseverance. This y ear we honor nine dazzling men and women: a melodious Vietnam vet; two life-affirming dancers; a bioengineering MD; an artist and a chef taking kids on a culinary world tour; a Lake View minister; a chronicler of African American histories; and a Pilsen powerhouse. At a January luncheon at the Four Seasons, Chicago will salute these local luminaries, a lustrous bunch with enough inspiration to spark us all.
