What dessert do you never want to see again?
Anything with the word “deconstructed.” I just don’t get it. Why would you deconstruct a dessert? Then you’re eating a part of the dessert that should be eaten whole.

What’s your dessert guilty pleasure?
My favorite is the Portillo’s chocolate cake. My husband and I had that as our wedding cake.

What’s your biggest dessert failure?
For a period of time, everything I tried to make tasted like breakfast food. I made milk chocolate and sage ice cream, and it tasted like breakfast sausage. It became a running joke.

What’s the weirdest dessert you’ve ever come up with?
Black garlic financier. Black garlic fermented is sweet but still has that garlicky flavor, like the taste of molasses.
