Boystown may have lost a mainstay when Cocktail closed, but the month-old followup seems to have grabbed the interest and curiosity of many a Halsted Street bargoer.

On a Saturday night visit, we found a mellow crowd sipping craft beers and cocktails (including a mango-peach slushy dubbed Monaco Punch).

The DJ provided some diversion, but it was difficult not to just stare in awe at the room’s pièce de résistance, a cloud sculpture crafted from 19,000 light bulbs. Not only is the thing colossal, but it’s interactive: The twinkling bulbs react to both voices in the crowd and the whereabouts of those in the bar.
