Happy Friday, festies: Chicago is getting yet another music festival, and Passion Pit is your headliner.
Announced this afternoon by React Presents (the gang behind Spring Awakening and North Coast) is Mamby on the Beach, a two-day bash running July 11–12 at Oakwood Beach in Bronzeville. The mostly electronic lineup includes sets from co-headliners Empire of the Sun, Cashmere Cat, Phantogram, Cut Copy, Art Department, Royksopp, and more. The festival should corner the EDM-on-beach void left by Wavefront in 2013, and marks the first time in recent memory a major pop fest has ventured south of Roosevelt (Common's inaugural Aahh! Fest moved to Union Park from its originally announced home of 63rd Street Beach in Jackson Park last year). Tickets are on sale now for $99–$199.
Mamby is, of course, not Chicago's only new festival this year. Check out the lot of new arrivals and old standbys in our summer festival guide. Happy festing.
