1 Hubbard Street Dance

Dance: Since becoming Hubbard’s resident choreographer in 2009, Spanish-born Alejandro Cerrudo has revolutionized the company with pieces showcasing his inventiveness and verve. Now Hubbard pays tribute with an all-Cerrudo program, which includes a world premiere.

4 Ithamar Has Nothing to Say

Comedy: Second City alum Ithamar Enriquez’s wordless one-man show sold out when it debuted in Hollywood. Following the lead of earlier greats such as Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, and Mr. Bean, Enriquez doesn’t talk, but don’t expect total silence. The show features a mash-up of music from Louis Armstrong and the Who, among others.

5 Chicago Blues Festival

Festivals: This year’s annual blues bash celebrates a hundred years of Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon with commemorative sets by Bob Margolin, Mud Morganfield, John Primer, and Billy Branch with Eddy “the Chief” Clearwater. Buddy Guy and Shemekia Copeland also headline.

“Friday morning, I might stop by Café Mustache. It’s a café and bar and they play live music. I usually get their double espresso. For dinner, I like to go Sun Wah, a Chinese restaurant. I recommend their roast duck.

“Saturday, if I wasn’t performing at the record release concert of my band Michael Zerang & the Blue Light at Constellation, I’d be going to Elastic Arts to see ‘We’re Still Here,’ the 20th anniversary concert of the electronics music group TV POW.

“Sunday, I plan on going to the Lincoln Park Conservatory to check out the new sound installation Abeyance, hosted by the Experimental Sound Studio. It was created by the experimental group Haptic.” —As told to Tomi Obaro
