As if synonymous with the sun’s rays peeking through the clouds of arctic blight, the touring music scene is perking up in Chicago. There’s a lot of great acts in town this weekend as well as locals playing a celebratory gig before they take off for tour.

Tonight, Miley Cyrus brings her “Bangerz” tour to Rosemont. Between the former Hannah Montana media maven’s “Wrecking Ball” and opener Icona Pop’s summer smash “I Love It,” your tween (or teen, maybe) will be enveloped in a meticulously constructed Top 40 cloud.

In other night moves, LA production duo Classixx brings its updated disco to Double Door.

Gary, Indiana-born rapper Freddie Gibbs raises the roof at the Metro.

And Baltimore producer Dan Deacon whips up an artful racket at Subterranean.

Wish an local music makers luck tonight at the Hideout, as the teensy venue hosts its annual send off party for Chicago bands making the trek to mammoth music showcase South By Southwest in Austin. Here's a complete list of bands, times and ticket prices.

In a twangier turn, country icon George Strait’s farewell tour makes a stop at the Allstate Arena.

And bluegrass great Del McCoury hits City Winery for a double header with his quintet, touring by excellent 2013 release, The Streets of Baltimore.

Heady hip-hop and electronic label Stones Throw founder Chris Manak, aka Peanut Butter Wolf, cruises into the Empty Bottle in support of a new film documenting 20 years of his baby: Our Vinyl Weighs a Ton: This is Stones Throw Records. Manak and Jeff Broadway, the film’s director, answer questions after a screening and then an array of Stones Throw artists, Manak included, perform during an after party.
