Today in jealousy-inducing dispatches from South By Southwest is news that Hannibal Buress, a non-drummer, sat in on drums with Massachusetts noise-rock band Speedy Ortiz yesterday. The shenanigans began Tuesday night when Buress, apparently in Austin for another engagement, fired off this tweet:
I'm in Austin and i will play drums in your band tomorrow between 12-5pm. I can't play drums. It'll be bad

By Wednesday morning, Speedy singer Sadie Dupuis—who you might recall from Pitchfork 2014—had replied with an invite to the band’s 1 p.m. set at the Mohawk, where Buress did indeed show up and bash quasi-rhythmically through the band’s closer “MKVI.”
hey @hannibalburess yr cordially invited to drum with speedy ortiz at the @pitchfork showcase at @mohawkaustin, 1 pm. or we could get pizza
