"I'm going to see Before Midnight, and I cannot wait! Richard Linklater, Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy changed the romantic drama game permanently with Before Sunrise, and then did it again nine years later with Before Sunset. Before Midnight is the third movie in this series and it ditches the real-time conceit of the first two and tackles arguably the most difficult aspect of romance—what happens after the happy ending. My expectations are high. It’s gotten rave reviews so far, so I trust that it will be all I expect and more. I’ll also probably hit up Fashion in the Street, an outdoor fashion festival in the South Loop this weekend too. –Tomi Obaro, assistant editor

“I’m going to the Whisper Opera at the Museum of Contemporary Art. I’m a big fan of both ICE (international contemporary ensemble) and David Lang. Plus, the concept for this premiere sounds super cool. It’s not like a typical opera. “Tonight, I’m seeing Mary-Arrchie Theatre’s revisionist take on The Glass Menagerie, which is a remount at Theater Wit of the company’s successful production from late last year. It was the hot ticket when it first came out. My husband (my source for everything I know about theatre) tells me that the production leans heavily on the memory aspect of the play in its portrayal of Tom, the narrator, as a homeless man remembering his downfall. The show also apparently taps into Tennessee Williams’ expressionistic side.
