After a marathon set spanning three-plus hours at the United Center in January, Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band will return to Chicago on August 28 as part of the now-extended The River Tour, a run celebrating the eponymous album's 35th anniversary (and a coinciding boxed set, released late last year). Tickets ($55, $105, and $150) go on sale Saturday, May 14, at 10 a.m. at the United Center box office, online at ticketmaster.com, or by phone at 800-745-3000.

When this tour swung through Chicago in January, Springsteen and co. played both sides of 1980's The River front-to-back. The Tribune's Greg Kot reported that the double-album took up two-thirds of the evening, leaving an hour for hits, anthems, and party tunes ("Born to Run," "Dancing in the Dark"). Here, they'll stray from the two-hour script, peppering selections from The River with others from the band's cannon.
