Candles that are gorgeous? Those are a dime a dozen. But candles that are as good for the environment as they are for your home? That’s a little tougher to find.
When Chicagoan Gerri Brunner got frustrated searching for fragrant, eco-friendly candles, she took matters into her own hands and started Nicolet Candle Company. All of the candles are made from soy wax, essential oils, and cotton wicks, then hand-poured into reclaimed bottles. Brunner is even working on a program where she will take back the empty jars and refill them.
Now that you know where to find your next candle, the question is what scent. Brunner recommends springtime favorites Lily of the Valley (recently named the scent of the season by fragrance experts), Lavender Basil, or Orange Blossom.
Find them at boutiques around Chicago like Alapash Home Store, Fleur, and Milk Handmade.
