A new coffee shop on the north side is out to do more than caffeinate the locals.
Sol Café (1615 W. Howard St.), which opened up in December right next to the Howard el stop, is on its way to becoming a hub for creativity and art in Rogers Park. That’s all thanks to owner Simone Freeman, who is starting up a monthly pop-up called Howard Art Market, which will feature all handmade goods.
Swing by this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m for the very first one. Hosted by the GNAR Collective (which, while it sounds like a death metal band, is actually the Great Northside Artist Revolution), the sale will feature edgy work from different artists around Chicago, including sculpture, metalwork, paintings, and photographs.
