When four young independent makers of furniture and cabinetry needed new studio space, they decided to find a place together where they could share ideas, camaraderie, and tools. They found a huge vacant warehouse in the West Side neighborhood of Hermosa, added a few more designers, and Dock 6 was born. Most pieces members make are commissioned by clients; the group wants to become a one-stop shop, Doug Thome says, for “any architect, designer, business, or homeowner who has a vision but needs guidance with design and creation.” 4200 W.
