Last April, the Lincoln Square cartoonist Jeffrey Brown saw his career enter hyperspace with the release of his megasuccessful children’s book, Darth Vader and Son (Chronicle, $15). In it, daddy Darth tries to raise four-year-old Luke Skywalker. 

Brown quickly produced a sequel and a spinoff, and made his screenwriting debut with the film Save the Date. This month, he releases Vader’s Little Princess (starring Leia). That book will hit store shelves on April 23.

The following weekend, he'll attend the city’s comic expo, C2E2 (April 26 to 28 at McCormick Place, c2e2.com). He'll speak on two panels on Saturday, April 27. The first features Imaginative Sci-Fi Authors; the second spotlights Chicago Comics from the Chicago Scene.

Oh, one more thing—Brown's second son was born in March.

So things have been—and should remain—pretty hectic for the cartoonist. We thought he could probably use one more assignment. So we asked him to draw what his last 12 months have looked like.
