While this stretch of the North Side is not exactly a secret, head past the trendy restaurants and upscale furniture shops of Andersonville, and there’s still room to grow. There in the northwestern corner of Edgewater, neighbors enjoy a quiet enclave near Rosehill Cemetery and Senn High School, which in recent years jumped from the bottom third of CPS schools to the top.
The area won’t be quiet for long: The shuttered Trumbull Elementary on Ashland is slated to become the home of the sociopolitical TimeLine Theatre Company, the former Edgewater Medical Center site on Hollywood is set to house 141 luxury apartments, and a Metra stop at Peterson is due to open in 2017. Kevin Mack of @Properties says this will likely boost prices west of Clark. (A four-bedroom single-family home at Glenwood and Catalpa costs $1.5 million, but go to Rosehill, west of Ashland, and eight beds are yours for $874,000.)
