Each month, the Promontory transforms into a dance floor where arty, smart black female millennials party to tunes spun by resident DJ Rae Chardonnay, as well as a rotation of female DJs from across the city. Why the focus on women of color? The event’s founders—Lauren Ash, Nick Adler, and Rae Chardonnay—wanted to create a celebratory safe space to get down, minus the aggressive boys’ club attitude.
