Update, AUGUST 16, 2023: Five years since this story was posted, four of the six buildings have been completed. The other two? Though 400 Lake Shore Drive, the site of the aborted Chicago Spire, received city approval, the project has not yet started; under a redrafted plan, the tallest of that project’s twin towers will now rise 875 feet instead of the original 1,100. The Tribune Tower addition has been dormant for more than three years after being approved by the city but is finally showing signs of life. Chicago YIMBY reported in March that CIM Group, the developer with Golub & Co., posted a new bidding opportunity for general contractors.

Update, October 23, 2018: 42 Ward Alderman Brendan Reilly has rejected Related Midwest’s plans for the Chicago Spire site, the Tribune reports.
