Few places in town have the sheer warmth that Elske offers, and it’s a testament to owners David and Anna Posey that they’ve filled their restaurant with not only lovely things, but also people who offer lovely service. Whether you’re sitting at Monica Casillas-Rios’s bar for an herbal martini and a plate of the best cheese and crackers in town (slices of aged Gouda shingled with housemade crackers and served with honey and seasonal jam), or sitting at a table for the set menu that includes David’s now-iconic slice of duck liver tart with salted ramp and toasted buckwheat, the experience feels so very Elske. À la carte is a fine way to go, particularly since you can get the sunflower seed parfait with sour honey, licorice, and bee pollen, Anna’s answer for the most iconic dish at Elske.
