A Lake Forest mansion

LAKE FOREST
LIST
$5.95 MILLION SALE $5.2 MILLION

According to the Lake County Recorder of Deeds, William and Sandra Strong paid $2.95 million for a Lake Forest mansion when they moved to Chicago from London in 1993. They renovated and updated the house, which was designed by Howard Van Doren Shaw in 1910, and won an award from the Lake Forest Preservation Foundation in 2001.

In 2008, as vice chairman of investment banking at Morgan Stanley, William Strong oversaw the company’s controversial $1.15 billion 75-year acquisition of Chicago’s parking meter franchise. Last March, he was appointed co-CEO of the firm’s Asia-Pacific region and transferred to Hong Kong. The Strongs listed the Lake Forest home last April and closed the sale (to buyers not yet identified in public records) in late November.

I could not reach them for comment, and their agent, Kathi Hudson of Griffith, Grant & Lackie, did not respond to phone calls.
