Getting to this family-run brandy distillery’s tasting room requires an effort. First, make sure it’s open. (The proprietors currently pour drinks for only a few hours on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons.) Then locate the spare 10-seat bar, which is attached to the distillery but has an isolated side-street entrance. A chatty staff and a brandy old fash- ioned softened with a swirl of maple syrup will justify the journey. Just be sure to drink up by closing time (9 p.m. on Thursdays and 7 p.m. on Saturdays).
