In a comprehensive special report on the Catholic Church in the city, Chicago found that over the past 34 years there's been a drastic eight point drop in the percentage of the city's population identifying as Catholic, far steeper than both the U.S. and world at large (both of which saw a one point drop). Fourteen percent of the city now identifies as ex-Catholic.
