Only four blocks from the Chicago home of President Obama, this 105-year-old Tudor had its origins as a wedding gift. The lot was split off in the early 1900s from the large Kenwood land holdings of the industrialist Christopher B. Bouton; his daughter Persis and her husband, Robert McDougal, commissioned the architect Horatio Wilson to design a house there, says Susan Davis, the author of the forthcoming book A Century of Hyde Park Houses. The three-story, 15-room house shares two-thirds of an acre with a tennis court and a coach house.

In 1994, Robert and Laura Lunn bought the house for $1.05 million. They performed extensive restorations and added a two-story addition in the back (it contains a master suite, a dining area, and a family room). In 2007, the house was sold through the Judicial Sales Corporation after Robert Lunn, a financial adviser, had been forced into bankruptcy. Scottie Pippen, the former Chicago Bulls star, had accused Lunn of mismanaging his investments; Pippen eventually received $1.5 million in a court settlement. The house was sold for $1.601 million in April 2007 to unidentified buyers.

Those buyers listed the house for sale with Bob Sullivan of Urban Search in November 2008, with an asking price of $2.975 million. The new owner, who is also unidentified, closed on this latest deal in April.
