Minor Leaguer “My first roommate in pro ball turned me on to this whole genre called Texas music, or red dirt music, and I immediately fell in love. After a while, I became more than just a fan. In baseball, there’s downtime; you’re in a hotel a lot. Instead of going out and getting in trouble, I pick up a guitar and write songs. It’s like my journal, in a way. I can’t sing, though. I write the songs and hand them off to guys in the scene and hope they make them big.”
Major Leaguer “I spent a long time in the minor leagues: seven years. Nothing came easy for me. I was never projected to be a major-league pitcher. When I’m on the field, I don’t take anything for granted. I treat every game like it’s Game 7 of the World Series or the last game of my career.”
