Since scoring an MBA with distinction from DePaul University in 2008, Wang hasn’t wasted time in reaching the top rungs of the investment services ladder—just don’t expect her to dispense advice over dinner about diversifying your portfolio.

You don’t like to talk shop? “I’m really serious about my career, and I’m getting to that point in my life where I’m really stable, but it’s not something I necessarily want to talk about with someone I’m with.”

And what kind of someone could get the conversation started? “I love a guy who can make me laugh and be kind of stupid with me. I’m not always a serious person. It’s fun to talk about things that aren’t a part of your regular life—not just your job. It takes me a while to warm up to someone, but when I do, it doesn’t take much time.”

On food: “I love to eat. I love trying new restaurants, and I’ll pretty much eat anything. I’m Chinese, so I grew up in a culture where it’s all about food. My mom is an awesome cook, but somehow that didn’t really filter down to me. I can follow a recipe pretty well, but a lot of the guys I’ve dated have been good cooks. That’s definitely a plus.”

On travel (and more food): “I’ve been to Japan, Thailand, and Spain, and I studied abroad in Italy during college. I try to get out of the country at least once a year. I went to Taiwan last year with my mom to visit family. We took a train around the coast, and we ate a lot—at nice restaurants and street food. Food is a really big priority when I travel. I’ll try any new food in a new place at least once—even chicken feet.”

On Enzo, her Shih Tzu–poodle puppy: “I’ve never had a dog before, and it was a lot of work at first. I needed the help of my family and friends. I wasn’t sure how to deal with him. I was freaking out—he was like a new baby. We went through a lot together. It’s been fun learning how to be a dog owner. I wouldn’t give him up for the world.” —L.S.
