As the personal chef to billionaire Sam Zell (a job he’s held for 25 years), Adolph doesn’t need to be at work until the late afternoon, so he likes to ease into his day. After a 7 am wakeup, he reads the Tribune, Sun-Times, and New York Times over his morning tea. “I love to know what’s going on in the world. I know a little bit about a lot of things,” he says. Adolph sits on the chef advisory board of Common Threads (a non-profit that teaches healthy nutrition to kids, volunteers for the Renaissance Society Annual Benefit, and is a Mariano’s Tastemaker.
His type: Free-spirited men who are creative and can be flexible with their schedule. And who eat everything. “Can’t I just meet a fois gras-eating, bread-eating gluten-eating person? It’d be nice to share my passion with somebody.”
I’d never date someone who… is a smoker. “It’s like kissing an ashtray. They can be smokin’ but not a smoker.”
