Professionally, Harris focuses on three projects: the I Am Campaign, which combats human trafficking; Transit Future, which seeks to expand public transit; and Go Bronzeville, which promotes transportation options in the South Side neighborhood. These, plus working toward his doctorate in community development, keep the divorced dad of two kids (ages 16 and 23) busy, but he’s never too crazed to socialize. “I love getting to know new people.”
His type: A global citizen and critical thinker who has lived abroad. “She needs to be able to dine with Toni Preckwinkle at a blacktie political fundraiser and sleep in the dirt in Northern Ethiopia.”
Perfect first date: El-trainhopping. “There are 77 different neighborhoods in Chicago, so experiencing each other while immersing ourselves in those—it’s the coolest.”
