LIST $1.85 MILLION SALE $1.6 MILLION

The woman who bought this Highland Park residence from its original owner, Scottie Pippen of the Chicago Bulls, has sold the house for $150,000 less than she and her husband paid the basketball star in 1996.

In 1993, Pippen spent about $1.5 million to build the 13,000-square-foot house; he sold it to Sol and Betty Turner for $1.75 million in 1996, according to the Lake County Recorder of Deeds. Sol died ten years ago, and Betty put the house on the market in March 2010, originally asking $2.375 million. In late March 2011, she closed the sale (to buyers who are not yet identified in public records) at $1.6 million.

The home, which sits on more than three acres, “had not been updated over the years,” says Allison Silver, the Coldwell Banker agent who represented Turner. “[Potential buyers] were walking in and feeling like they’d have to do a new kitchen, new baths, and a lot of other things.” Photos that accompanied the listing showed that some of the main rooms had a glitzy black, white, and glass décor straight out of the early 1990s. The house does have a movie theatre in the master suite, a children’s wing, a pool, and an indoor basketball court with Pippen’s number, 33, painted on the floor.
