With its richly detailed red brick and limestone exterior—a tribute to the church that used to stand on the lot—the structure at 1725 North Burling Street looks far more substantial than a mere six-unit condo building. But then, this development is on Burling, site of some of the most lavish and expensive new residences in Chicago. And the units in Burling Place are impressive, if nothing like the 20,000-square-foot behemoths on the blocks to the north.

The condos start at 1,400 square feet and go up to 3,200 feet. They have wide-plank quartersawn oak floors stained a deep espresso, contemporary kitchen cabinets with inset doors, steam showers, and, thanks to the 46-foot-wide lot, expansive floor plans (a standard city lot is 25 feet wide).

From $749,000
to $2.35 million

Priced at $2.35 million, the 2,900-square-foot fifth-floor unit has exclusive rights to the 2,400-square-foot roof, which is tucked behind parapets and finials. The building, a project of Spearhead Development, should be ready for residents in November, says Mario Greco, the Rubloff agent selling units there. At press time, three of the six units were still available.
